Carnegie Library South Side Branch

As one of the very first neighborhood locations in the library system, The Carnegie Library’s South Side location is as rich in history as it is in educational opportunities for South Side residents. The library supports their mission of “engaging the community in literacy and learning” by offering a variety of programs, workshops, and classes for all ages and skill levels.

Welcome to my blog - a place where I can tell you all about my adventures living in the South Side East/Hot Metal Bridge Neighborhood. As you probably already know, the South Side consists of multiple neighborhoods within the overall district. For many, the first thing that comes to mind is all the bars, college students hopping from bar to bar, and really not much else. But here on the Eastern edge, things are a bit different. Here you'll find more office and commercial properties, apartments, restaurants, and retail. It is also a convenient location because of its easy access to Downtown, Oakland, the Waterfront, and 376. Besides all of that, I have a great view from my apartment! As I discover new places, I'll post on here and share on social media accounts under @msjanes_nbhd. Please like and share my posts so that more people can become aware of this great neighborhood!
